This document describes the p-box

The p-box is the brand new product of d.f.t. It is made to tune all Diesel TDI´s, from Audi, VW, Skoda or or any other modern Diesel. The highlights are:

Now to the details:

The normal p-box will not work with the pump-injection TDI´s . You need the pd-box fore these cars. Cars from Japan use mostly Nippon Denso Injection. Here you use a ND-box.

Very easy to install.

In each TDI vehicle there is a plug . In the new Golf Mk 4 and the Audi A3 it has 10 pins. In all other cars the plug has 8 pins. You can find and open this plug very easily. You then  plug in the p-box. That’s nearly it. There are two more wires coming out of the p-box. With the black one you can have a switch under your dashboard to switch the p-box on and off ( the second wire from the switch should connected to negative earth ). If you do not wish to have a switch, you may cut off the black wire. You do not need it. Then you look for another plug near the turbocharger. Here is  the where your TDI measures the turbo boost pressure. This plug is smaller than the main one. It has 6 pins. Connect the blue wire with the wire/pin 6 of this small plug. You are finished installing the p-box. No holes to drill, no tubes or pipes to connect. This is afully electronic system. It can be removed just as easily.

Each p-box has on its reverse side three potentiometers. (small screws ) With the power potentiometer you can increase or decrease the power. If you increase it too much the car will produce black smoke. If your car begins to smoke, turn the screw with a small screwdriver counter-clockwise until your car stops smoking.

With the second potentiometer you can increase or decrease the revs at which the p-box starts  its work. Turn to left means: the p-box starts its work at very low revolutions. Both potentiometers have a range from 7 o’clock to 5 o’clock. Best results you get between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. .

Normally you will not need to adjust anything. The p-box will be delivered with the right adjustment.

This graph was made with an Audi A4 TDI on a dynamometer. As standard it developed 110 Hp (88 kW) power and 173 ft/lb (235 Nm) torque. After we had plugged in the p-box it produced 142 Hp (104,5 kW) power and 207,5 ft/lb (282 Mm) torque.

 

 

 

 

Less diesel consumption

The reason that you will reduce your fuel consumption is the high torque. You can drive your TDI with lower revs. That means: where the untuned car will need to use fourth   gear, you can stay in fifth. This also works if you drive a car with an automatic gearbox. The consumption can be reduced by up to 14 %.

Keep your engine healthy

Our tuning with the p-box allows you to drive in higher gears with lower revs. You will also need less gear changes. This causes less wear and tear. That’s what your motor likes. It helps it to stay healthy for many years.

Controlled and accepted by the German TÜV ( technical control institution of the German government )

Only if your exhaust gasses are very good can reach the very strong German TÜV. We do so!
